Ford Motor Company has announced its return to the top tier of prototype sports car racing in the FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) in 2027, aiming to recapture the glory it experienced nearly 60 years ago.
Ford Performance will field a full factory team, targeting victory at the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans, one of the most prestigious and demanding events in motorsport.
Ford’s storied history at Le Mans includes four consecutive overall victories from 1966 to 1969, cementing its legacy in endurance racing. Since then, the company has focused on class victories, including a notable triumph with the Ford GT in 2016 and more recently with the Ford Mustang GT3.
With its return to the FIA WEC, Ford is set to rekindle its competitive spirit and continue its pursuit of excellence on the world’s most iconic racing stage.
