Volkswagen has unveiled its hot hatch for India. The Polo GTI will be a significant model for the brand, given its price tag of Rs 15-20 lakh. From the outside, the car looks similar to the sportier bumper, LED DRLs, a honeycomb front air-intake, a red strip running below the grille, twin exhausts, 17-inch ‘PARABOLICA’ alloy wheels, and of course – the GTI badge.
Under the bonnet sits a 1.8-litre TSI, turbocharged, 4-cylinder petrol engine, good for 189bhp and 250Nm of torque. It can sprint from 0-100kph in just 6.7 seconds, and will reach a top speed of 236kph. Synced to the engine is a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. On the inside of the car, a flat-bottomed steering finished in leather with red stitching, sports seats, glossy black interior elements and a lot of other ‘GTI’ bits adorning the cabin.
The car will come with standard features such as ESP, ABS, airbags and the lot. However, being expensive, you will see limited numbers of these babies around.
