The iconic Beetle’s latest reincarnation was on display at the Delhi Auto Expo. With its curvaceous, bug-like design, it had a lot of eyeballs rolling. The front-end gets LED DRLs integrated into circular headlamps, fog lamps, and chrome elements on the exterior of the car. It also sports a stylish spoiler that juts out from just below the rear glass.
Step into the cabin, and interiors will greet you with leather this, and leather that – including the door trims, gear-shift knob, the steering wheel and seats. Also lighting up the cabin are some chrome touches on the dashboard. Features include a central touchscreen display and dual-zone climate control, to list a few.
Under the cute bonnet lies a 1.4-litre TSI, direct-injected petrol motor that produces 150bhp and 250Nm of torque. Allied to this unit is a 7-speed DSG auto ‘box. Priced at 28.73 lakhs, the Beetle isn’t a cheap car to own. But for those who’ve saved up for the better part of their life just to see themselves in one, will never think twice about splurging.
