The Spaniard, Marc Marquez, has moved to within grabs of his fourth world championship with victory at the Australian Grand Prix on Sunday. It was his sixth victory of the season which gives a massive points lead over nearest rival Andrea Dovizioso with just two races remaining in this exciting season that proved to make or break hearts.

It was another tough race as the 24-year-old Honda rider assumed lead with six laps from the end and took the chequered flag to move to 269 points overall. However, much to the dismay, Ducati’s Dovizioso finished only 13th to end up with a tally of 236 points with only 50 up for grabs in Malaysia and Valencia. While there is still everything to play for, Marquez has got the definitive upper hand right now.

Valentino Rossi has finished second with his Yamaha team-mate Maverick Vinales getting the better of French rookie Johann Zarco to round out the podium in third position. Earlier, a rainstorm forced end to the Moto3 race when Joan Mir was leading which ensured his ninth win in 16 outings. It was enough to make the 20-year-old a world champion in Moto3 class.

Following the race, Rossi was enthusiastic as and announced that he is ready for the aggressive challenge the new generation riders are up to. He also said that he wanted to try for the podium and the maximum but in the end was very happy with the second place due to the embroiled battle that left the spectators in Philip Island jumping with joy.
