The somewhat cute Mahindra e2o has managed to find quite a number of homes on home turf, despite it being a two-door. But now, Mahindra found the need to cater to small families – and they’ve managed to churn out the e2o Plus: a four-door version of the standard car. It will be priced at a range of Rs 5.46 lakh – 8.46 lakh(ex-showroom, Delhi).
On the styling front, the e2o Plus looks identical to its two-door sibling, except now it gets a new grille with vertical slats, a slight revision in the side profile due to the addition of two more doors; and at the rear, the triangular tail lamps, a grey plastic element running the length of the tail gate and a spoiler mounted atop. The e2o Plus is longer, taller and wider and gets a decent 135-litres worth of boot capacity.
This little car endows a 41hp electric motor that is powered by a 72v battery that helps the car reach a range of 140kms. The motor is synced to a direct-drive gearbox. For those of you who can’t wait for a 9-hour long battery charge, you can opt for the fast-charger that lets you charge 90% of the battery in 90 minutes, but this costs a jaw-dropping 6 lakh rupess more, on top of the car’s cost. Practical it may be, but a price tag that’s as steep as this makes it a bit of a party-pooper.
