Kawasaki is the first in the country to give motorcross buffs a proper dirt-bike for some serious off-roading. The base motorcycle – KX100, will cost you a good Rs 4.68 lakh, while the more powerful 250F costs Rs 7.14 lakh(ex-showroom, Delhi).
KX100
The KX100 is the smaller of the two and features a 99cc, two-stroke, single-cylinder engine synced to a 6-speed transmission. It gets a 5-litre fuel tank, inverted telescopic forks, an adjustable uni-tank monoshock. The bikes weighs only 77kgs and disc brakes at the front and rear.
KX250F
The 250F endows a 249cc, four-stroke, single-cylinder engine linked to a 5-speed transmission. Up-front is a Showa inverted telescopic front fork, and an adjustable monoshock at the rear, again my Showa. Petal disk rotors at the front and rear take care of stopping duties. It also gets launch control.
Both motorcycles are available at Kawasaki dealerships, but can be ridden only in remote areas with a lot of the rough stuff around – as these bikes aren’t road legal.
