Mercedes-Benz has launched the all-new E-Class at a price of Rs 56.15 lakh for the base E200, while the top-of-the-line E350d costs a good Rs 69.47 lakh(ex-showroom, Mumbai).
This being the long-wheelbase version, sold only in China and India, gets an extended wheelbase of 205mm, which helps in making more room for the rear passengers. Features include a 12.3-inch Mercedes’ COMAND online infotainment system and a 13-speaker 590W Burmester sound system, steering-mounted twin touchpads, seven airbags, Mercedes PreSafe system, attention assist, electrically-adjustable rear head restraints, and loads more.
The E200 gets the same 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol making 184hp and 300Nm of torque, while the E350d too gets the same 3.0-litre V6 diesel making 258hp and 620Nm of torque. Both engines get a rear-wheel-drive setup, via a new 9G-Tronic gearbox.
In the past, the E-Class was nothing short of a runaway success for Mercedes-Benz in India – and with the advent of the new E-Class LWB, we’ll have to see if a new formula is set to make waves once again.
