Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) has reimagined a pickup truck concept through its Student Car Project, aligning with the government’s “Skill India” initiative. This year, mechatronics students combined the Volkswagen Taigun SUV and Virtus sedan to create a unique pickup truck, incorporating 3D-printed parts and specialised accessories like underbody protection and roof-mounted lights.
Mentored by industry professionals, the students completed the project over nine months, gaining hands-on experience in design, R&D, and manufacturing. The initiative is part of SAVWIPL’s commitment to fostering innovation and practical skills through its vocational training program, launched in 2011.
This project offers young talents valuable insights into the automotive industry, helping them build confidence and develop problem-solving skills.
