Nissan has announced that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between it and the Emirates Driving Institute to develop a specially tailored off-road driving training course using the new Nissan Patrol Desert Edition, which is available exclusively in the Middle East.
“This is yet another example of how Nissan is completely in tune with its customers in the region,” says Managing Director of Nissan Middle East, Samir Cherfan. “The Desert Edition of Nissan’s legendary Patrol has been specially developed to be the best vehicle for off-road driving in the Middle East’s unique terrain. This new training programme will enable 4×4 enthusiasts to explore the abilities of this incredible vehicle under expert tuition from the Emirates Driving Institute.”
The proposed training course will last one day and will be available to purchase from Emirates Driving Institute, whether or not they currently own a Patrol. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be presented with a special certificate to keep as a memento.
“One of the region’s favourite pastimes is off-road driving,” continues Cherfan. “So offering a programme that not only highlights the capabilities of the new Desert Edition Patrol but helps owners and those interested in the vehicle to become more comfortable with this unique style of driving is an excellent development.”
The Nissan Patrol, known to countless fans all around the world as the ‘Hero of all Terrains in Life’, occupies a special place in the hearts of off-road enthusiasts in the Middle East. The car recently set a Guinness World Record for the fastest time to ascend a 100 meter sand dune by a production car, in Jordan’s Wadi Rum.
Building on the Patrol’s reputation as the most capable of all off-road vehicles, the new Nissan Patrol Desert Edition has been specially developed by Dr Mohammed Ben Sulayem, the Middle East’s most accomplished motorsports personality and founder of the world famous Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge, Powered by Nissan. Its introduction to the Middle East market resulted from customer feedback and comprehensive market research, which showed a genuine demand for the abilities and equipment levels it offers.
