Mercedes-Benz has added yet another model to its AMG line-up – the GLC 43. And no, this one isn’t an SUV like its sibling; it’s got a boot poking out at the rear, just like the GLE 450 AMG. It wears a price tag of Rs 74.8 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
There’s no denying the fact that the coupe-rooflined GLC 43 looks properly aggressive with those air intakes up-front and the chrome front splitter along with a huge grille. It gets 19-inch alloy wheels, but 21-inchers can be opted for as well. At the rear, four chrome-plated exhausts stick out prominently, and a spoiler lip among other details, is visible too.
The cabin boasts of black leather upholstery with red stitching, a 7.0-inch infotainment unit with Bluetooth and USB connectivity and a multi-function sports steering wheel. It also features five driving modes: Eco, Comfort, Sport, Sport Plus and individual. Fuel efficiency has improved too, thanks to start-stop and cylinder shut-off technology.
Under the bonnet sits a 367hp 3.0-litre, twin-turbo petrol V6 that also does duty in some of the other AMG models. Power is channeled to all four wheels through a 9-speed automatic gearbox. It manages the 0-100 sprint in just 4.9 seconds and can hit a top speed of 250kph.
With adjustable ride height and independent sports suspension, this one should be more than up to the task of being fun to drive on the road.
