Maruti Suzuki has launched what has possibly been the most awaited hatchback since the test mules started doing their rounds in the country – the Baleno RS. Priced at Rs 8.69 lakh, it will take on the likes of the lukewarm Polo GT.
On the styling front, the Baleno RS gets sportier front and rear bumpers, black alloy wheels, and a new mesh grille.
Features include ABS and dual airbags, reverse camera and parking sensors, push-button start, automatic projector headlamps with LED DRLs, tilt and telescopic adjust steering and SmartPlay infotainment system with navigation.
Under the bonnet lies the biggest surprise: an all-new 1.0-litre Booster-jet, turbo petrol motor that makes 102hp and 150Nm of torque. Syned to the engine is a 5-speed manual gearbox, with no option of an automatic, unfortunately. The Baleno RS is also a bit heavier than the regular Baleno at 950kgs, and features disc brakes all around.
