After a long, long wait, Skoda has finally given its Rapid a much-needed facelift. The car now starts at a range of Rs 8.35-12.78 lakh, for the top-end diesel variant.
Up-front, the fascia is new, with a new bumper, grille and a pair of rather distinctive headlamps that look identical to its larger sibling – the Octavia. Overall, the tighter lines give it a proper European appeal.
Features include dual air bags, remote boot release, ABS, electric folding wing mirrors, while the top-of-the-line versions get reverse parking sensors, ESC, cruise control, footwell lighting and a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The vaiants on offer include Active, Ambition and Style.
Beneath the bonnet, the new Rapid gets the Ameo’s 110hp 1.5-litre diesel engine, along with a 1.6-litre petrol engine on offer as well. Both engines get automatic gearbox options, while 5-speed manuals will serve as well.
With this update, Skoda’s Rapid is sure to steal the thunder from its rivals, as most of us are well aware of Indians and their taste for Skoda’s well-proven executive sedan.
