Jaguar’s long-awaited 2016 XF has finally be launched in India at a starting price of Rs 49.50 lakh for the base variant, while the top-end ‘Portfolio’ version tops off at Rs 62.10 lakh.

An all-new 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder Ingenium diesel engine makes its debut in India, in the all-new XF. The motor makes 177hp and 430Nm of torque, while a 2.0-litre petrol unit makes 237hp and 340Nm of torque. The petrol variant a little quicker to 100 than the oil-burner, but going by the trend of diesels in our country, and the recently lifted diesel ban, it’s the latter that is sure to rake in the numbers. Both engines are linked to an 8-speed auto ‘box, with power being channeled to the rear wheels.

Some of the features include electronically-adjustable front seats, 17-inch alloy wheels, bi-functional Xenon headlamps, perforated leather seats, 8-inch touchscreen unit, et al – and the top-of-the-line Portfolio variants gets larger wheels and a 10.2-inch touchscreen display, among a plethora of other goods. ‘Jaguar Drive Control’ also finds its way on to the new XF that helps you choose between four driving modes: Standard, Eco, Dynamic, Rain/Ice/Snow.

The new car is also longer, which hints at more legroom and is also lighter by 190kgs than the car it replaces. We can’t wait to see it take the tussle to the upcoming Volvo S90.
