Bentley Motors has appointed T. Jon Mayer as its new Head of Exterior Design and Design Operations, effective immediately. Mayer succeeds Domen Rucigaj, who has moved to a new role within the Volkswagen Group.
Mayer will lead Bentley’s exterior design team and shape the brand’s future design language across production cars, concept vehicles and upcoming electrified models, including the new Bentley Torcal.
Bringing more than 20 years of automotive design experience, Mayer previously spent 13 years at Volvo Cars, where he held senior roles including Head of Exterior Design. He was involved in the design of models such as the EX60, EX30, S60 and V60, and contributed to Volvo’s distinctive “Thor’s Hammer” headlight signature.
At Bentley, Mayer will lead a 45-member design team, while continuing to oversee digital modelling, surfacing and visualisation as the luxury marque moves towards its next generation of electrified vehicles.
