Mahindra Racing finished on podium yet again following their impressive maiden win in Germany. In the second race of the inaugural New York ePrix, the Indian manufacturer had their job once again and proved the gimmicks were wrong by ending up second and third.

Drivers Felix Rosenqvist and Nick Heidfeld began strongly as the pair driving the all-electric M3Electro racecar had a good getaway after positioning their cars second and fifth on the starting grid respectively.

Swedish driver Rosenqvist took advantage of a flawless start at the line to overtake eventual winner Sam Bird into the first corner of the American race that lasted for 49 laps. Heidfeld also gained some places in the opening laps of the closely fought race for some championship positions.

After getting past some drivers, he followed his teammate into the podium positions. In the due course of the race, they were unable to hold the lead from the fast charging Bird who took back P1 just after the 10th lap.

On the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal circuit, the double podium came as a welcoming boost for Mahindra which had to make do with a disappointing first race which saw Rosenqvist finishing 15th while Heidfeld had to retire due to suspension damage.

Courtesy of the double podium, Mahindra Racing has consolidated its third position in the Teams’ Championship standings. The resilient team heads to Montreal for the last race weekend of the season up next and is all pumped to do well again.
