Datsun has officially announced that it will take the wraps-off its much-awaited crossover – the Go Cross, in Indonesia, on January 18th. In the teaser image that has been released, it show that ‘Cross’ appears to be the final name for the their little crossover.

Viewed from the front, the Cross boasts of prominent creases, the original large foglamp design from the Go Cross Concept, along with scuff-plates and body cladding visible too. Surprisingly, LED DRLs and projector headlamps make their way on to the car as well.

However, if you still have hopes of the Cross being an all-new car, then it may disappoint. It’s going to be more of a slightly derived version of the GO+, albeit with body classing all-around, and hopefully some much-needed larger wheels. Also expect a roof spoiler at the rear to show up on the Cross crossover.

The cabin is expected to get better upholstery, a re-designed dashboard and even a touchscreen unit. Under the bonnet will reside a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, petrol motor making 68hp and 104Nm of torque. Mated to the engine will be a 5-speed manual transmission. Features will include ABS, EBD and brake-assist for the Indonesian market. Electrically-adjustable wing mirrors, rear wiper and parking sensors are among some of the other features as well.

The India launch will happen sometime later this year, and when launched, it will take on the likes of some of the crossover hatchbacks our market has to offer.
