Rolls-Royce Motor Cars is marking the 10th anniversary of its bold and performance-focused Black Badge series, the marque’s darker and more dynamic alter ego introduced in 2016.
Created to attract a new generation of self-driven luxury clients, Black Badge redefined modern super-luxury by combining enhanced performance, striking aesthetics, and deeply personalised craftsmanship. Over the past decade, the Black Badge identity has influenced design trends across the wider luxury automotive sector.
The concept traces its inspiration to rebellious moments in Rolls-Royce history, including a rare 1928 Rolls-Royce 20 H.P. with a black grille and the iconic all-black 1964 Phantom V owned by John Lennon.
Today’s Black Badge lineup includes performance-oriented versions of Spectre, Ghost, and Cullinan models, featuring darker design elements, bespoke materials, increased power delivery, and a more engaging driving character tailored for owners who prefer to drive rather than be chauffeured.
According to CEO Chris Brownridge, Black Badge has played a major role in expanding Rolls-Royce’s global appeal, welcoming younger, expressive clients while maintaining the brand’s hallmark craftsmanship and exclusivity.
As Black Badge enters its second decade, Rolls-Royce plans to further evolve the concept with more daring bespoke commissions and innovative luxury experiences, reinforcing its influence on the future of ultra-luxury motoring.
