Toro Rosso team principal Franz Tost says that it is too early to confirm that Pierre Gasly and Daniil Kvyat will unite for the team’s line-up next year. Gasly made his F1 debut with the team in Malaysia, in place Kvyat, and was expected to stay there still the end of the season.

Doubts emerged over his presence in the United States Grand Prix due to it clashing with the Super Formula finale though. Carlos Sainz switches to Renault for the Austin race ahead of a full season with the French team in 2018.

It leaves Kvyat and Gasly as the obvious choices for the two seats at Toro Rosso. However, Tost insisted nothing is concrete yet for next year as far as the team lineup is concerned. He downplayed suggestions that the outfit may yet look outside its own academy of drivers too.

He said the philosophy of Toro Rosso is always to run Red Bull drivers as in the end they are being decided by the parental squad. Tost admitted Kvyat was obviously frustrated at being benched for two races.
