Tata Motors delivers 23 buses to Kadamba Transport Corporation, Goa

Tata Motors today delivered 23 state-of-the-art buses, from its subsidiary – Automobile Corporation of Goa Ltd. (ACGL), to Kadamba Transport Corporation Ltd. of Goa. The 23 buses delivered at flag-off ceremony held in Panaji today, is part of an order for 43 buses placed by Kadamba Transport Corporation, and is part of a larger 3400 nos. order secured by Tata Motors under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM) phase – II.


Built by ACGL of Goa, these buses are designed for passenger and driver safety and comfort, and tested for best operating efficiencies for State Transport undertakings. The buses sport a new front face, noticeable from a distance.


Adopting Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) as per UBS-II specifications, will enable monitoring of these new buses by Tata Motors, for performance in terms of number of trips and their off-road position, also signaling pre-scheduled maintenance via an OBD (on-board diagnostics), hooked-up to the central control room server, all via GPRS (general packet radio services) and GPS (global positioning system). These systems also allow Kadamba to easily realign bus routes, based on passenger occupancy rate, allowing them to simultaneously update revised routes on the buses high quality LED destination boards.


With a floor height of 900 mm, and a length between 9-12 meters, the new buses from Tata Motors offers easy entry and exist for upto 30 – 50 seating passengers, with a wide passage-way, facilitating easy movement of passengers, including those standing, with adequately appointed double overhead grab rods. Other safety features for passengers, include wide windows for maximum visibility and enabled for CCTV cameras for additional security to record movements inside the bus. Bucket type seats, rigorously tested suspension, tubeless tyres and lower NVH technologies (Noise, Vibration & Harshness) provide for a comfortable journey.

The buses flagged off today are backed by technologies for a more connected public service, are built right here in Goa, at ACGL’s production facilities in Honda, Goa’s first major engineering unit.”

Tata Motors approach of manufacturing FBVs, meets the government’s new norms of bus body building, as per AIS norms (Automotive Industry Standards), in terms of safety, fuel efficiency, wider bus gangways, with the flexibility to be powered by both CNG and Diesel. With a whole range of coach designs, e.g. microbus, intercity and touring coach, Tata Motors is able to actively participate in the development and implementation of solutions for mass passenger transport in the worlds’ main markets.


Tata Motors has also developed Electric Hybrid buses and Articulated buses to meet the future transport needs for the ‘Envisaged Smart Cities’.


The company recently bagged order for over 3400 buses under JnNURM – II. Balancing affordability for passengers, along with a world-class ‘Metro’ like experience and long-term eco­nomic viability is a need of every transport undertaking and we at Tata Motors are committed to that need.


Tata Motors will impart training to drivers of the STU’s / operators on handling the new buses it will supply, including for that of general service and maintenance. The company is committed to support these buses by leveraging its large network of over 1800 Authorized Service set-ups all of which are geared to provide best-in-class service support, over the life cycle of these buses. At strategic locations we have upgraded our set-ups for the maintenance and repair of new generation bus bodies.
