TOYOTA GAZOO Racing (TGR) and Lexus have revealed three all-new flagship performance models: the GR GT, GR GT3, and the Lexus LFA Concept. Positioned as spiritual successors to icons like the Toyota 2000GT and the original Lexus LFA, the trio represents Toyota’s commitment to preserving and evolving its core sports-car craftsmanship.
Inspired by the philosophy of “Shikinen Sengu”—the Japanese tradition of rebuilding sacred shrines every few decades—the new models embody Toyota’s mission to pass essential car-making skills to the next generation while integrating cutting-edge technologies. All three vehicles share a development focus on low center of gravity, lightweight rigidity, and advanced aerodynamics.
The GR GT, developed with direct involvement from Master Driver Akio Toyoda (Morizo) and top professional drivers, debuts as TGR’s new flagship sports car. Its hybrid powertrain pairs a newly developed 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with an electric motor, delivering over 650 PS and 850 Nm. With an all-aluminium frame, carbon-fiber torque tube, and rear transaxle layout, the GR GT is engineered for both precision and accessibility.
Built on the same fundamentals, the GR GT3 enters as a full FIA GT3-spec race car designed for customer teams. Featuring an aluminium space-frame chassis, double-wishbone suspension, and the GR GT’s V8 power unit, it aims to deliver professional-grade performance with driver-friendly handling.
Lexus also showcased the LFA Concept, a next-generation BEV sports car developed alongside TGR. Evolving the spirit of the original LFA while embracing electric performance, the concept challenges perceptions of electric sports cars and signals Lexus’ ambitions for a high-performance electric future.
Together, the three premieres highlight Toyota and Lexus’ renewed commitment to craftsmanship, motorsports heritage, and the future of performance engineering.
