BYD, the world’s leading manufacturer of new energy vehicles (NEVs), made its debut at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, unveiling the BYD RACCO, its first all-electric K-EV designed exclusively for Japan. The brand also introduced the BYD SEALION 6 DM-i, marking the launch of its dual “EV + PHEV” strategy for the Japanese market.
Under the theme “ONE BYD,” the company showcased a full lineup of passenger and commercial vehicles, reinforcing its long-term commitment to supporting Japan’s energy transition. The display included the BYD ATTO 3, DOLPHIN, SEAL, and the YANGWANG U9 supercar from its premium brand, highlighting BYD’s expanding portfolio.
The BYD RACCO brings compact, lightweight electric mobility tailored for Japan’s K-car segment, while the SEALION 6 DM-i represents BYD’s first plug-in hybrid offering in the country. Since its 2022 market entry, BYD has grown to 66 retail outlets nationwide, with plans to launch up to eight electric and hybrid models by 2027.
On the commercial side, BYD introduced the T35 all-electric truck and the J6 Living Car Concept, alongside its J7 and K8 electric buses. With over 500 electric buses already in operation across Japan—from Hokkaido to Okinawa—BYD continues to lead the nation’s transition toward clean, sustainable public transport.
