Apple celebrated the iPhone’s 10th anniversary with a special phone named the iPhone X with highly advanced A11 Bionic chip. The announcement was made on the Apple Campus in the Steve Jobs Theater by Tim Cook after months of anticipation and rumours about the specifications. Pronounced as “ten”, it is the first iPhone to feature OLED display and measures 5.8 inches, with a resolution of 2,436 × 1,125 pixels.
Apple has added Dolby Vision and HDR10 support for stunning video playback. It also features TrueTone dynamic white-balance adjustment, a feature also seen on the 10.5-inch iPad Pro and the new iPhone 8 models. To unlock the iPhone X which does not have a home button at all, Apple introduced Face ID.
It works using the TrueDepth camera system, hidden in the notch at the top of the display. Glance at the phone, and it illuminates your face, making it ready for an infrared camera to identify it. The chance of someone other than you unlocking your phone with Touch ID is one in 50,000 claims Apple.
The iPhone X has a dual-lens 12-megapixel rear camera with dual optical image stabilization, made up of a wide-angle f/1.8 aperture lens and a telephoto f/2.4 aperture lens. The 7-megapixel front camera now supports Portrait mode, and has auto image stabilization and exposure control. Both cameras use the new Natural Lighting effect and the new augmented reality features. Video has also been improved with 4K resolution movies at 60fps now possible, plus slow motion video at 240fps.

Mercedes-AMG have uncovered one of their most extreme cars yet - and they're calling it the Project One. The car is based on a carbon-fibre monocoque structure with the panels and air-intakes designed to help in airflow and generate downforce. There is also a huge wing that deploys at the rear which aids downforce.
Inside the car, it draws inspiration from the W08 race car. A newly designed steering wheel with controls for the individual drive modes and suspension settings, a digital instrument display are some of the highlights. Instead of a rear-view interior mirror, the Project One features a digital display that shows real-time video of the rear view via a 'MirrorCam" function.
Underpinning the Project One is a race-grade chassis with an adjustable multi-link setup with pushrods for the front and rear. Standard 19-inch wheels at the front and 20-inchers at the rear are proper centre-lock alloy wheels wrapped by 285/35-profile tyres (front) and 335/30s (rear).
It also comes with three modes: ESP On, ESP Sport handing mode, and ESP Off. The Project One boasts of carbon ceramic brakes with specially developed callipers.
Don't mistake the mid-mounted 1.6-litre, V6 turbo petrol engine for anything short of extraordinary. It's been developed at Mercedes-Benz's High performance powertrain in Brixworth. Supporting the petrol engine are four electric motors.
Each electric motor plays a significant role - one is incorporated directly into the driveshaft in a layout that matches today's F1 cars; the other drives the turbocharger as a torque-filler, while the other two motors - placed in between the front axles - sends power to the front wheels.
To match the throttle response of a F1 car, the Project One's electrically-driven turbocharger works similarly to the motor-generation unit on an F1 car. Expect a power figure of more than 870hp with the driveshaft-mounted electric motor further adding 163hp to the mix, while the two electric motors on the front axle channel 326hp to the front wheels and features a torque-vectoring function as well. Combined output is more than 1000hp, a major chunk of which is sent to the rear wheels via a hydraulically-operated 8-speed automatic gearbox that can be operated through remote steering wheel-mounted paddle-shifts that has the choice of automatic and manual modes. Top speed is expected to be about 350kph or so.
We're almost certain this is the most extreme, yet usable road-legal race car ever made - and while you maybe one of the lucky few who can actually afford it, you'd be sad to know that every single one of the 275 cars have been sold out already!
BMW unveiled the track version of the 8-Series well ahead of the production car even hit the road as the M8 GTE graced Frankfurt Motor Show in absolute style. It is the pinnacle of what the German brand can do in the GT racing scenes as it replaces the successful M6 GTLM and the supple Z4 GTE marking the return to the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans series since the M3 GT2 last raced in 2011..
It uses a 4.0-litre twin turbocharged V8 engine that is restricted to produce 500 horsepower as per the racing regulations and is based on the production cylinder block and heads that could be made available in the upcoming 8-Series sports coupe. The engine is connected to a six-speed sequential transmission sending power to all four wheels.
The production model previewed through the concept at Villa d'Este was only in the final stages when development began on the M8 GTE as computer simulation played a big part in developing the traction control and the overall design. The deployment of carbon fibre for the bodywork helped to keep the weight below 2,700 pounds – a massive 55 lbs less than the regulations permit.
Teams can play around with the balance and set the vehicle up based on track conditions for better lap times. The M8 GTE, with the competition-spec aero and the fresh take on the traditional BMW Motorsport livery, will make its race debut at the 24 Hours of Daytona in Florida in January as it readies for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the FIA World Endurance Championship.
