Jeep will officially be making its foray into our market on the 1st of September, with the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Wrangler being sold initially. Unfortunately, the standard wheelbase Wrangler won’t make it to India at the moment, but long-wheelbase ‘Unlimited’ version with five doors will be sold here with 197hp 2.8-litre diesel motor.

The Grand Cherokee will go sale alongside as well, with three variants on offer: Limited, Summit and the absolutely bonkers, high-performance SRT that comes with a 6.4-litre Hemi V8 petrol unit that makes 475hp and is mated to an 8-speed auto ‘box, while the Limited and Summit versions will get a 240, 3.0-litre V6, synced to an 8-speed auto transmission as well. Four-wheel drive will be available on all three models.

Expect pricing of the Wrangler to start at around 35-40 lakhs, with the Grand Cherokee crossing the 80 lakh rupee mark. Also, the SRT is sure to be priced nothing short of a crore of rupees, making it the most expensive Jeep on sale in the country. Delhi and Ahmedabad dealerships will be the first to accept bookings, with Hyderabad following a while later.
